Happy 2017 friends! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and enjoyed your time with family and loved ones. We sure did! But I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant to take some time off from the blog but it was so worth it. I feel so refreshed and ready to tackle 2017. Which brings me to today’s post…getting your blog 2017 ready!
Last year one of my main goals was to organize, monetize and pretty much have a bangin’ blog! And I will be the first to say that it has been a long, hard, and time consuming journey — but it has been SO worth it and it’s starting to pay off.
Now, I don’t want you to take as long as I did, that’s why I’m sharing 5 of my tips on how you can get started on organizing your blog — you can find the other 10 in the FREE checklist! Let’s get started!
Update Your ‘About Me’ Section
This is not only one of the most visited pages on your blog, but it’s also where people go to find out more about you and decide whether or not they want to stick around and follow you. And if you are looking to monetize and work with companies, you also want to leave a good impression. So keeping this page up to date, clutter free and inviting is essential — and something super easy to update!
Update Your Social Media Bio’s
Along with your ‘about me’ page, your social media bio’s are one of the first thing people see when they find you. Keep it short, sweet and to the point. Also another quick and easy thing to fix.
Update Your Old Blog Posts
I recently did this with my Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick post that went viral a couple of years ago. It was rather simple too, I just added better quality pictures and changed a few other things around. Kallie from But First, Coffee and the creator of Caffeinate & Conquer has a post all about repurposing your old posts.
Update Your Profile Pictures
I know it’s so easy to snap a quick selfie and upload it as your profile picture, but if you want to be and look professional — have someone else take a nice quality picture for you. My profile picture was taken in front of a garage door! It literally took 5-7 minutes and with some minor editing and cropping, it made for a much better looking photo. Or you can also set a timer on your phone and snap away!
Re-Design or Re-Brand
Last year I went through a huge re-branding and I plan on doing the same this year, I have been working with a designer for the last couple of months who will be changing things up for me — but more on that later. Now, don’t feel like you have to go my route and pay a designer to do this for you — Etsy has some amazing and super affordable templates. Giving your blog a makeover really helps kick things off professionally and gives you that “fresh start” feeling.
These are just 5 of my tips…don’t forget to get the other 10 in this FREE checklist! I promise that with a little work, time, effort and these tips — you will begin to see some positive changes in the future. Now, let’s start 2017 with a positive attitude and ready to kick some ass! 😉
