I’ve been pretty open about battling with adult acne here on the blog and social media. But in case you are new around here, I’ll give you a brief update. Growing up, I rarely got any breakouts, usually just a small monthly blemish would pop up. Now that I am in my late 20’s I am suffering with acne, think teenage/hormonal breakouts.
It’s very discouraging to be at this age and have to be dealing with this. Thankfully I have found a new skincare line that is honestly helping my skin, ZAPZYT. Today, I’m sharing my routine, along with a few tips and tricks that have helped along the way.
Skincare Routine
Cleanse, Cleanse, Cleanse
For the last month and a half, I have been using the ZAPZYT Acne Wash Cleanser, I was a bit hesitant, since I have really sensitive skin. But this cleanser is formulated with salicylic acid, soothing aloe and chamomile. I will say, after using this line, my skin did get worse before it got better. About 2 weeks in, I had a massive breakout and now I don’t have any. However, I am left with scarring…lots of red scarring, so if you have any recommendations for products that have helped you with that, please share!
Exfoliate
As an exfoliator, I have been using the ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub. This scrub has tiny microbeads that help clear pores of dirt, oil and acne-causing bacteria. I didn’t find this to be abrasive at all, it was nice and gentle on my skin, but it did leave my skin feeling extra clean.
Treatment Gels
If you want overnight results, I definitely recommend the ZAPZYT Acne Treatment Gel. No lie, it reduces the appearance of a blemish in hours. If I had a pimple pop up, after my evening routing, I would apply some of this gel on it and go to bed. The next morning, the redness was minimal and the blemish was almost gone. Totally worth trying, even if you only have the occasional breakout — and bonus, it’s super affordable and can be found at Walmart or online. Another gel that I use is the ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel. This gel has more salicylic acid to help get rid of that blemish even faster but still moisturizes skin with the Brazilian botanicals.
Tips & Tricks
- Drinking LOTS of water helps not only clear skin, but also hydrate your skin.
- I know they say not to pop those pimples, but I’m sorry…I can’t walk around with a nasty pimple all day. So after reading this article I now pop them the proper way. I wrap my fingers with tissue paper and pop that sucker.
- Use antibiotic ointment and hydrocortisone, after popping a pimple. The antibiotic ointment will help speed the healing process and the hydrocortisone helps with redness.
- Moisturize your skin really well, even if you are oily…your skin needs it.
- Keep those pesky hands off of your face.
That sums up my recent skincare routine and how I have been battling with adult acne. I hope you found this helpful and if you would like to read other bloggers thoughts on this line, then head on over to Jasmine’s blog, Christine’s blog, or to Audrey’s blog and see how this line has helped them.
