Hey friends! I hope you are having a good week so far. I’ve been quite busy with work, I had 2 houses go under contract and I’m getting ready to put another house up on the market. This time of year is always rather busy — but I’m not complaining! For today’s post, I wanted to share a few of the benefits of spending time alone. I personally don’t mind spending time alone, but then again, I am an introvert. But there is a stigma attached to spending time alone. The thing is, being alone is often confused with being lonely, and they are 2 completely different things. Being alone is a fact, you are on your own. Lonely is how you feel about it, you are unhappy because you are alone. With that being said, here are a few benefits of becoming more comfortable with your own company.
Benefits of Spending Time Alone
It’s Your Opportunity to be Selfish //
Being selfish has a negative connotation but it’s not always a bad thing. Especially when it comes to taking care of your well-being. When you’re alone, you put yourself first. You can do whatever, whenever you want.
It’s Time to Recharge //
If you’re also an introvert, then you know that being around a lot of people is very draining. (No, it does not mean you are anti-social.) That’s just how introverts are wired. Spending time alone is how we recharge our batteries. While extroverts get energy from socializing.
It’s the Perfect Time to Practice Self-Care //
We know that in order to take care of others, we must take care of ourselves first. So take advantage of the much needed alone time and binge watch your favorite show, take a bubble bath, do some yoga…pamper yourself. Take some time to nurture yourself.
It Helps You be More Independent //
When you’re alone you become more reliant on yourself. A lot of times we tend to depend on others, even without realizing it. This forces you to listen and trust yourself.
It’s a Stress Reliever //
This is the perfect time to escape the chaos of your life and forget about deadlines, laundry, etc. Take a nap, the dishes will still be there when you wake up or journal and let your thoughts all out on paper. Keeping everything bottled up, is not good for your health.
