ABOUT YOUR BLOG (Please be specific in your answers, so we can all learn something!):
1. How long have you been blogging?
-My first blog post went up on July 29th, so a little over 4 months.
2. Are there any bloggers who helped you out/encouraged you when you first started your blog?
-When I first started my blog, I had absolutely no idea how to run it, thankfully I came across Kate Spitz, Justina, and Julie and Ashley. They were incredibly sweet and so helpful, they definitely helped me with any questions I had.
And my husband definitely encouraged me to start a blog, no he’s not a blogger, but his encouragement is a big reason why I began blogging; he actually thinks I should do YouTube videos, but I’m not quite there yet.
3. What Social Media has given you the most traffic to your blog? Is there a platform that you don’t use?
-I think Twitter and Instagram have probably given me the most traffic. I also use Pinterest and of course Google+ and Facebook.
4. How often do you post? Do you have a regular schedule?
-I post Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, that’s my regular schedule. I like to fill out my calendar a month ahead of time with all of the posts I plan on doing. If I get tagged to do something or if I’m doing a collab post, then I’ll post on the weekends or Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, sometimes life happens and things don’t always work as planned.
5. Where do you blog?
-Wherever! I carry my iPad with me everywhere, if I get ideas I like to jot them down before I forget. But I also blog at a desk on our HP TouchSmart320 PC.
6. What camera do you use? What photo editing software do you use?
-I use my Canon SX30 IS PowerShot and my iPhone. I actually don’t edit my photos much, but if when I do I use my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.
7. How did you come up with your blog name?
-Well I wanted something simple and I’m not overly creative when it comes to coming up with catchy names and such, so Beauty With Lily it was….simple!
8. Do you do any regular “series” posts on your blog?
-Yes, I actually have several series on my blog. I have a total of 6 series going on, Color Combinations, All About, Styling, Battle of the Boxes, Five Under $5, and Ten Under $10. You can find links to all of the posts here. I’m also currently doing Beauty Crown 2013, which is a yearly favorites collaboration that Liz, Jackie, and Shalunya invited me to be a part of.
9. What draws you to a blog?
-A good, easy, and simple layout. I like to focus on one thing, I don’t like not knowing where to look. Also, I like feeling like I’m talking to a girlfriend, I like to think that I write in that way…so bloggers who write like that, definitely draw me in.
10. What turns you off of a blog?
-“I hate when a blog seems to contrived and that the person is trying to be someone they are not, It’s called “QUIT BLOWING SMOKE UP MY ASS” because I truly can sense a phony a mile away and I consider that trait an “EPIC FAIL.” People want to hear the truth, not what you think they want to hear. If we as bloggers are not honest about the pitfalls of products how can the cosmetic industry work harder to improve on something if no one ever say anything negative about it.”
Betti’s answer pretty much sums it up!! Betti, I stole your answer, sorry. Hehe!! And if a blog is too cluttered, doesn’t have good pictures, or hard to read—kind of turn me off too. Sorry!
11. How many blogs do you subscribe to? Are they all beauty related?
-About 70, I like to use Feedly for my blog reading, it’s just SO much easier and super convenient. I highly recommend it to everyone! Yes, they are all mainly beauty or fashion related.
12. When do you generally read blogs?
-I’m a night owl, so usually at night.
13. What is your favorite type of post, and why?
-Reviews, FOTD, makeup/hair looks…I have a few. I like having a general idea of how a product works before I go out to purchase it, so reviews are definitely one of my favorite posts.
14. What is your least favorite type of post, and why?
-I really don’t like posts that seemed forced…if you’re in a blogging funk, just don’t write. Your readers can tell…and they may not come back.

1. Where do you live? Tell us a bit about your city!
-I live in a tiny town in West Texas–population, less than 5,000. I like the small town vibe, everyone is super friendly, but I do wish things were closer. The nearest WalMart is 30 minutes away, Ulta, Sephora, Target, Starbucks…over an hour away! Boo!!
2. What about your home?
-My husband and I live in a 3 bedroom house, we bought it almost 4 years ago, right before we got married. The minute I walked in when we were house hunting, I knew it was home, it just felt so right.
3. Single or taken?
-Married, we will celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary in March.
4. Do you have children?
-No.
5. Do you have pets?
-Yes, my husband and I have a Boxer, she will be 7 in June. My husband bought her on our second date, she’s been with us since we first started dating.
Before getting married, I purchased my Sophie Lou, she’s a poodle/bichon mix. Sweetest little thing! She stayed with my parents for some time while my husband and I got things situated in our home after getting back from our honeymoon. Well at this point my mom was too attached to her and couldn’t let her go. So we share custody of our sweet Sophie.
6. Do you have a “day job”?
-I am a nurse, but have been a stay at home wife for 2 years now.
7. How tall are you?
-I’m 5’8″
8. Do you have siblings?
-Yes, I have 2 younger brothers, they are twins.
9. 3 words to describe yourself.
-Quiet, responsible, nice. 🙂
10. Who is your style icon, and why?
-I don’t really have a style icon…
11. 3 favorite bands/musicians.
-Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, and Texas country is the best, so Eli Young Band, Randy Rogers, and Josh Abbott Band…I can’t pick just 3…haha!
12. 3 favorite movies.
-The Notebook, Dear John, and The Vow.
13. 3 favorite books.
-The Christmas Wedding, The Twilight series, and A Child Called It.
14. 3 random/weird facts about you.
-I am obsessed with The Real Housewives TV shows.
-I’m a chocolate and peanut butter lover.
-I HATE scary movies…so much so, that I don’t even watch the trailers for them.
