Hi beauties! I hope you all are having a wonderful new year so far!
Today I have a review for you guys, let’s just jump right into it…I’ll try not to make it super long. Hehe!! 🙂
NYX Studio Finishing Powder
Price: $9.99
What the company says about the product | “The white stuff. This 100% pure mineral silica finishing powder is a miracle in a jar. Perfect for setting your foundation or wearing alone, it leaves your skin looking radiant and luminous while it applies neutral, so it works on all skin tones. Best if used with the NYX B24 Kabuki Brush for a light dusting…a little goes a long way!”
You can find it here.
Overall Application | Like the company states, a little goes a long way. I use a big powder brush and make sure to tap off the excess.
I did not find this to be cake-y, it’s finely mild and blends really well, giving a flawless finish.
Overall Color | This is definitely white, super white. But it definitely gives a translucent finish when applied to the skin. I did the flash photography test on this, and it did not give me a white cast, which is good. Afterall, this powder is made for photographs.
Overall Packaging | As you can see in the picture above, this is like most loose powders. You do have to be super careful when opening the lid though, I have made a mess several times while trying to open it.
Overall Wear | This wears great on my oily skin, I have noticed that I go longer periods of time without blotting or having to re-touch up my makeup. However, I find that this powder doesn’t wear that well in my undereye area. It almost makes my dark circles more noticeable. I’m not sure why that is, but I did not like that.
Pros | Great for photographs.
Smooth, flawless finish.
Cons| Not good for setting undereye concealer.
Not good for travel.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I like this powder for setting my makeup, but not for setting my undereye concealer. Like I mentioned above, it made my dark circles even more noticeable. I tried different concealers and I got the same result with all of them.
I think this will be perfect for long, hot summer days, since it keeps me matte for long periods of time.
I have not tried wearing this powder alone, but I have heard it works great as a “primer” before foundation. I am a bit skeptical, but I will give it a try sometime.
Will I Repurchase?
I don’t think I’ll be running out of this jar anytime soon, but when I do I will more than likely repurchase. I have read that this is a great dupe for MUFE’s HD Microfinish Powder. I haven’t tried MUFE’s version, so I can’t attest to that.
I hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend! I have been out of town since Tuesday -hence the lack of a “real” picture – so my blogging schedule is out of whack.
I hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful!
Until next time beauties! Happy weekend!
♥ Looks like I can’t participate in No Buy January since I failed yesterday. Maybe No Buy February will work better.
♥ Since I’m out of town, I haven’t been able to read any blogs or respond to any comments. I’ll be working on doing so, next week.
♥ My hair has grown a lot these last few months, I definitely need to dye it. I’m not sure whether to go back to dark brown or re-do the cherry cola red I did here, one last time before winter is over. Hmmm?
