Is It A Dupe? | Chella Eyebrow Pencil vs. Maybelline Define-A-Brow

March 12, 2014 · In: Makeup, Uncategorized

As some of you may know, I love eyebrow products! I enjoy trying new products and playing around. So it’s only normal that I would want to find something inexpensive from the drugstore.

I know that a dupe to everyone can be vastly different…some people want the exact same color payoff, longevity, texture…essentially they are looking for a duplicate. But in my eyes a dupe is a product that works the same way, looks similar, gives you similar results, for a lower price tag. What is your definition of a dupe?
So let’s get started…

Chella Eyebrow Color Pencil

  • $18.00
  • Available in 4 shades
  • Mechanical pencil—yay no sharpening!
  • Fine tip, easy to line brows.
  • Creamy consistency

Maybelline Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil

  • $4.95-$6.95
  • Available in 6 shades
  • Mechanical pencil
  • Fine tip, easy to line brows
  • Creamy consistency
  • Includes a comb

I find the Chella pencil to be very easy to work with, it glides on very nicely, but after using the Maybelline pencil, I’ve noticed that the Maybelline brow product is much easy to work with. It’s creamy, but not too creamy where it melts off your face.

Prior to purchasing Maybelline’s Define-A-Brow, I considered the Chella pencil my holy grail! After using both and testing them for several weeks now, I really don’t see much of a difference with the two, aside from the price difference.

So, is the Maybelline Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil a dupe for the Chella Eyebrow Color Pencil?

In my opinion….yes! Both products give me the same results, which I love, and they work the same. The color is a bit off since I do have 2 completely different colors–the Chella pencil is in Dark Brown and the Maybelline is in Medium Brown–but other than that, I see no actual difference and Maybelline has a bigger color selection. Oh geez, I cant forget about the comb that comes with Maybelline’s pencil…I’m not a fan of it, I’d rather use a spoolie, but it’s a nice add on!

You can’t beat the price…that’s over $10 in savings! I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing the Chella Eyebrow Pencil Color anytime soon!

Have you tried either of these products?

What are your thoughts?

I tried to keep it short…I tend to ramble quite a bit, making my posts lengthy at times.

Until next time beauties!
