Weekends are my favorite…it’s my time to relax, get some blog work in and spend some quality time with my loved ones. So I thought I’d give you a little peek into my usual weekend morning routine — my weekend afternoons/evenings differ, but for the most part, my mornings are pretty much the same.
I “try” to sleep in on the weekends, but a hyperactive and cute little 4-legged fur ball doesn’t really let me. He wakes up with so much energy, it tires me just to see him go! Now that it’s not as cold (the weather in Texas is cray) we like to begin our morning with a walk — Charlie LOVES going on walks and he also goes crazy when he sees kids or other dogs out.
After our walk, it’s time for a quick shower — and since I mentioned earlier, the weather has been insane for us, I can’t forget deodorant! My go-to brand for years has been Dove and over the past few months I’ve been reaching for their Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant — not only do they have a variety of wonderful scents, but it offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection plus added skincare benefits of Dove ¼ moisturizers and NutriumMoisture for softer, smoother underarms — who doesn’t want and need that!
I remember so well when I decided to upgrade to Dove deodorants — I was in nursing school and we were doing clinical rotations in a big teaching hospital, my week in the burn unit was coming up and I had heard horror stories from fellow classmates about how hot and long the days were there. For those of you who may not know, the burn unit is very, very warm…they keep it in the 80’s if not higher — this is because the patients have most of their skin burned so the body can no longer keep up the temperature that our organs need to function.
I’ll never forget my first day in the burn unit — we assisted with a skin debridement on a woman who weighed over 400 pounds, it was HOT and I ran around like crazy following my nurse. I literally had sweat stain marks on my scrubs — talk about embarrassing! Funny how someone can remember things like this from what seems like ages ago, but like I mentioned earlier, that’s when I made the switch to Dove deodorants and I haven’t turned back. And now that they have Dove Advanced Care that lasts 48 hours, I can be sure that I won’t have embarrassing sweat marks on my scrubs. Have you tried this line of deodorants?
Moving on from my little nursing school story — we usually tend to have a hearty breakfast, but this was the weekend before Valentine’s day, so we had to take advantage of all the heart shaped donuts as possible, right? And of course…coffee…always coffee! Normally this is when I make my daily call to my mom — we talk every single day, I hate that we no longer live in the same town.
If it’s my husbands weekend to work (which this past weekend it was) I’ll try to get in as much blogging work as possible. Whether it’s filming, taking pictures, finishing up drafts or catching up on emails, I always try to stay ahead. If it’s his weekend off, then I try to sneak in some blog work throughout the day. I don’t like to spend my entire time on the computer “working” if he’s home — we like to get out of the house, have lunch, get our grocery shopping done, or catch a movie — I know, we are so FUN!
After a busy morning of blog work (trust me, if you are a blogger you know how time consuming it is) I like to relax with yet another cup of coffee and a good book. I’m currently reading The Magnolia Story — such a good read, didn’t think it was possible to love Chip and Joanna more than I already did!
I hope I didn’t bore you guys, but I honestly don’t do a whole lot on the weekends. Especially on weekends when my husband is working. Thanks for stopping by!
What are your weekends usually like? Have you tried Dove Advanced Care Deodorant?
