Makeup that melts off, is no good and can really put a damper on your day. The following tips are perfect if you have extremely oily skin, live in a severely hot or humid area. I hope you give these a try!
Sweat Proof Makeup Tips
Start With Great Skin
The first step to flawless makeup, is a good and consistent skincare routine. Use lightweight moisturizers that lock in hydration, opt for oil-free formulas (unless your skin is excessively dry) and like I mentioned, be consistent with it.
Use a Good Primer
Primers are game changers! They help create a smooth canvas for makeup application and they also help keep your makeup looking fresher for longer. If you have oily skin, stick to primers that are mattifying, my personal favorites are Murad’s Oil-Control Mattifier and Make Up For Ever’s Mattifying Primer. If you have normal, combo or slightly dry skin…find a primer that helps create a smooth canvas, like the Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer. This will help minimize those pores, while helping extend the wear of your makeup.
Use Less Foundation
Avoid caking on foundation and opt for a BB or CC cream instead. If you like something with medium buildable coverage, try the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, it also has SPF and comes in an oil-free version.
Set With a Powder
Instead of a heavy powder, choose a loose powder, like the Coty Airspun Loose Powder or the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. Setting with a powder will help absorb any excess oils in your skin.
Use Setting Spray
Now that you’ve finished with all of the powders, set your hard work with a long-lasting makeup setting spray. A long-time favorite of mine has been the Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray — they also have different versions for different skin types.
Blot Excess Oils
Instead of piling on powder when the oil starts to surface, start by blotting your oily areas with blotting sheets. Then you can dust a bit of powder if you’d like.
