Hi friends! It’s been such a long time! I did not plan to be away from the blog for so long…but after having some website issues and being stuck in a rut, I felt like it was best if I just returned when I felt ready too. I’m feeling super refreshed, motivated and ready to get back into it. I definitely missed it! So let’s get started with today’s post, 5 self-care habits to inspire good health and overall happiness!
5 Self-Care Habits to Inspire Good Health
Try to Get 8 Hours of Sleep //
It’s easier said than done sometimes, especially if you have kiddos to chase after. But if you can try to AT LEAST get 8+ hours every other night, you’ll feel so much more refreshed and ready to tackle the day.
Aim for More Steps Daily //
Track your steps and aim for more than 10,000 daily. I use my Apple Watch to track my steps and check in throughout the day to see my progress. If I see I am nearing the end of the day and I still have a couple thousand to hit 10k, I’ll take the long way to certain places at work, I’ll purposefully park farther, etc. These little things make a big difference and overall make you feel better.
Stay Hydrated //
This is such a common habit, but it’s one that we probably all fail at pretty consistently. At work, I try to drink three 32 ounce bottles and right before bed, I have another 8-12 ounces with my supplements. I personally avoid all soft drinks, juices, teas, etc during my work day…at dinnertime, sometimes I’ll have some sweet tea. Generally, I leave the soft drinks for the weekend…and I only allow myself one a day. If you’re a coffee drinker like myself, keep in mind that caffeine naturally dehydrates you.
Fit In a Few Breaks of Stretching //
This is something I just started recently and I’ve noticed a difference in my posture, general aches and my mood. Every morning once I get out of bed I do a quick little stretching session…nothing fancy. At night, I do the same thing before jumping into bed. Give it a try, I bet you’ll feel so good! I find these adidas pants to be super comfortable and great for stretching…I usually pair them with this soft pink tee, which is incredibly soft. My favorite sneaker line from adidas is their Cloudfoam QT Racer Shoes. I wear them daily for work, I do tons of walking, and outside of work too. I own several pairs in different colors!
Stay Off of Your Phone 2 Hours Before Bedtime //
This one is tough. Especially if you love to scroll social media before bedtime. But not only is that blue light damaging, it’s also too much brain stimulation right before bedtime. This makes it harder for your brain and body to naturally relax and get ready to sleep. Instead grab a book, your Bible, take a long bath, listen to some relaxing music, go for a walk…anything to unwind you down.
